Dr. Anders Cohen: Attaining Leadership in the Field of Neurosurgery

There are few medical professionals in the field of neurological surgery who are held in the same level of regard by peers and patients as Dr. Anders Cohen. Neurosurgery is one of the most difficult specializations in medicine, and through his perseverance and dedication, Dr. Cohen has become of the leaders in the field.

Neurosurgery is a discipline that focuses on diseases in several key parts of the body that require surgical intervention: the central nervous system, the peripheral nervous system, and the spinal column. Dr. Cohen is the only spine surgeon in the New York Metropolitan area who treats degenerative scoliosis and spodylolithesis through the use of minimally invasive decompression and correction procedures. In addition, he has pioneered endoscopic lumbar decompression for small disc herniations.

More recently, Dr. Anders Cohen has developed a minimally invasive Chiari decompression for patients that meet certain criteria. Patients who undergo the procedure typically leave the hospital within two days after surgery, with greatly reduced side effects as compared to traditional approaches.
